Experience with our Trainee and Graduate program

Andreas works as a trainee in the Human Resources department at Hydro's plant in Grevenbroich, Germany. As part of the trainee program, he has also spent four weeks at the Corporate Human Resources department in Oslo.

Introduction program

My posting to Hydro's head office in Norway began with our corporate induction program called "Hydro Fundamentals."

During four days, we learned about our values, social responsibility, company strategy and Hydro's history and development. The participants were actively integrated into the program through group work, discussions and a process simulation.

We also visited the Hydro Museum and the home of Hydro founder Sam Eyde. The workshop was a highlight of my trainee program so far.

Four weeks in Oslo

Then I began my four week stay at the Norwegian corporate headquarters as a member of the Corporate Organization and Leadership team. There I got to know not only colleagues in the department, but also colleagues and contact persons in the business areas. In this way, I made many new contacts.

Valuable experience

By participating in various international meetings on different current HR projects, I received valuable insight into the different levels of our personnel work. Through this, I gained a better understanding of HR tasks and issues throughout Hydro. The importance of my own tasks in the context of corporate projects became clearer. It was an exciting challenge to work on and present my own projects in an international environment.

The results of my posting to Oslo were purely positive. In addition to new acquaintances with friendly colleagues and interesting impressions, I have acquired important experience, which will be valuable to me in the future.
