SEM Specialist for alloy development

SEM is an instrumental tool in developing novel aluminium and for understanding the relations between production processes, material microstructure and the properties of the final product. To strengthen our competence, we are now looking for an SEM specialist to Innovation & Technology.

This is a position for you who wants an exciting work with freedom and possibilities to develop in a true research environment. As SEM specialist you will contribute with advanced investigations and metallurgical expertise in our research projects, extending from remelting and casting to final product applications. You will also function as a mentor to your colleagues and develop our competence in electron microscopy.

The position

As SEM specialist in Innovation & Technology you will mainly work with advanced material characterisation for our development projects and challenging failure analysis. You will also be responsible for our SEM equipment, one older unit and a modern high resolution FEG-SEM with EDS, EBSD and STEM detectors; and developing our competence in the area.

Main responsibilities:

  • Advanced SEM investigations
  • Material characterisation and failure analysis
  • Equipment responsibility for our two SEM units.
  • Internal training and mentoring your colleagues
  • Alloy development in multidisciplinary teams

Your profile

For this position you should have university degree, MSc or PhD or equivalent, with experience of advanced SEM investigations. Though metallurgy and aluminium is the essence of our activities we value experience from other areas of research as well. The experience we are looking for is mainly in the use and understanding of the SEM.

For this position you should be thorough, analytical and flexible. You should be able to work independently with your projects and take responsibility for the planning and the results of your work. It is also important that you are service minded and collaborates well with your colleagues and customers.
