Zacarias Monteiro was seriously injured two days before Christmas, after an accident involving the projection of caustic soda. He was treated in Belém and then sent to São Paulo to receive the best treatment possible in Brazil. His state of health was unstable, however, he was recovering well until he suffered a cardiac arrest this morning, which led to his death.
