Qatalum tries to solve the logistical challenges resulting from tensions in the Middle East

The aluminum factory Qatalum is working to solve the logistics challenges created in the Middle East, after Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt have blocked transport routes and severed diplomatic ties with Qatar.

Qatalum is a joint venture between Hydro and Qatar Petroleum. The plant produces more than 600,000 tonnes of primary aluminum with added value annually for customers in Asia, Europe and the United States.

Most of Qatalum's supplies are shipped through the large port of Jebel Ali in the Emirates United Arab Emirates, but the port appears to be closed for shipments from Qatar since this Tuesday morning.

Supported by its owners Hydro and Qatar Petroleum, Qatalum JV is working to find alternative shipping routes that enable the company to continue serving its global customers.
