This year, the event discusses the development of research aimed at production, cost and productivity improvements, with an emphasis on advances in the field of environment and safety. Hydro, a global leader and the only 360º company in the aluminum sector operating in Brazil, participates in the conference with Brazilian employees, who discuss the status of bauxite mining, alumina refining and aluminum production with scientists, engineers, technology suppliers and of equipment.

The environmental analyst at Mineração Paragominas, Victor Barbosa, will present on September 19, one of Hydro's cases at the event, with the theme “BRC: a technical and scientific partnership in search of the 'state of the art' in the recovery of areas mining industry ”.

BRC is the Brazil-Norway Biodiversity Research Consortium, formed by Hydro, Oslo University (Norway), Museu Paraense Emílio Goeldi, Universidade Federal do Pará and Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia. “The consortium maintains a research program connected to Hydro's mining operations, with the objective of strengthening the capacity to conserve natural biodiversity in the areas where the company mines bauxite. Three new species of fungi have already been discovered, a new species of lichen and a new species of insect during the studies ”, highlights the environmental analyst.

In addition to Victor, the Geotechnical consultant, Breno Castilho, the operational analyst at Mineração Paragominas, Maria Daniely Silva, and the Process supervisor at Mineração Paragominas, Pâmela Costa, also represent the company in Russia, with presentation of cases on topics such as facilities and techniques for the disposal of bauxite tailings, development of business intelligence reports for the management of operating results indicators and management of water resources in bauxite mining.
