With works aimed at the health and safety of workers, Hydro Paragominas was the winner of three awards of the 2021 Brazil Protection Award. The company was already among the finalists and received the gold awards in the Safety with Electricity and North Region categories with the case “Fatality Prevention: Energy Lockout Management and Lockout Training Simulator.” The other silver-winning case was “Fatality Prevention: Traction Belt and Anchoring Belt'' which was competing in the Machine and Equipment Safety category.

The case "Prevention of fatalities: Energy Lockout Management and Lockout Training Simulator" involved the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team, an electrical engineer, mechanics, technical and operational staff, in addition to the support of the Quality in Management and INOSA Standardization. The process covers all areas of maintenance and operation.

The case "Prevention of fatalities: Traction Belt and Anchoring Belt" had the contribution of more than 20 people from the support areas of HSE, manufacturer, fatality prevention consultant and operators. In order to eliminate the potential risk of fatality of metallic projection due to the use of strap with metallic connection, steel cable and chains, a standardization of the process of use of traction and anchoring strap, of the de-jamming and towing process, in addition to the training of employees to control the process was elaborated. .

The Protection Brazil Award is given by the Protection Magazine and aims to recognize the efforts of large companies in the area of worker health and safety. The award was attended by a group of technical and specialized judges who selected 38 companies, among more than 100 entries. The winning cases will be announced in the special edition of Revista Proteção in December.
