The Hydro Sustainability Fund (FSH, in portuguese), in partnership with the Platform Partners for the Amazon (PPA) and the United States Agency for Development (USAID), through the support of the Sustainable Barcarena Initiative (IBS, in portuguese), opened registration for Sustainable Connections – Call Platform for FSH projects for the development of Barcarena, which aims to finance community-based projects and structuring projects to be carried out in Barcarena. The objective is to collaboratively achieve development based on sustainable solutions for the region, in addition to strengthening local organizations and improving their skills in project planning, management and implementation.

Interested parties can apply for the Community Base Call 1, the first phase aimed at community-based organizations, until June 03, on the IBS website https://barcarenasustentavel.org/.  The total investment of the partner institutions will be R$ 700 thousand, to support community-based organizations to develop and execute concrete actions of social impact in the municipality in the areas of work and income generation; sociobiodiversity; sanitation and solid waste management.

Entities with a structured legal entity, such as OSC, Foundations, MEIS and Limited Partnerships, with projects that operate in Barcarena, as a priority, may apply. Non-profit organizations will be able to send proposals online, appointing a person responsible to be the proposer. For interested institutions, there is support for the elaboration of projects with the offer of two workshops offered during the registration process, one held on the 10th, and the other will be held on Wednesday, May 11th. Until the end of the process, interested parties will still be able to count on the support of IBS, including to use the internet and computers to register.

Applications for projects take place in two stages: this year, a Call for community-based projects and a Call for structuring-based projects; and, in 2023, another Call for community-based projects. The first Call is already open and the instrument containing all the rules is available on the website. The Call for structuring-based projects will begin in June this year.

Public Notice 01 – In 2019, there was a public notice to call for projects promoted by the FSH, which selected eight initiatives, whose projects started execution in 2021. The participants applied for the financing of their projects from three lines of investment: work promotion, employment and income and environment; institutional strengthening of associations and social organizations and sporting or cultural events. The first public notice guaranteed a total investment of R$ 730 thousand, benefiting approximately 300 families.
