On May 20, the Orientation Seminar on the Emergency Action Plan (PAE) of Solid Residues Deposits (DRSs) 1 and 2 of Hydro Alunorte was held. The objective was to present the control and safety structure of the facilities and the main actions to be taken in cases of emergency. Community leaders from the areas surrounding the deposits, representatives of the Civil Defense and Barcarena Fire Department participated in the event. They got to know the details of the PAE and the proposals for the implementation of signs in the Self-Rescue Zone (ZAS).

The PAE that the refinery maintains in Barcarena provides for several scenarios and action protocols for responding to emergencies, including training and simulations involving refinery employees and public authorities' emergency response agencies, as well as people identified in the surroundings. Periodically, the plan is updated, integrating the company's operational routine, according to strict quality and safety standards that are key factors for Hydro and that consider parameters that go beyond those determined by legislation. The seminar is part of this periodic update process.

“It was a very important milestone. We were able to convey, in an easy language, what the PAE represents and how important it is for our community to be integrated”, comments Paschoal Cataldi, Executive Residue Manager at Hydro Bauxita & Alumina, who led the seminar in collaboration with the DRS Operations teams, Health, Safety and Environment, Corporate Social Responsibility, Government Relations, Communication, among others.

Hydro Alunorte maintains an open dialogue with all stakeholders to build a good neighborly relationship in the locations where it operates, walking together towards an increasingly sustainable society.
