The Sustainable Barcarena Initiative (IBS) released the list of 15 projects selected for the Calls for Community Base I and Structuring Base of the Sustainable Connections Platform, which will finance proposals focused on entrepreneurship and sustainable development in Barcarena, a municipality in the state do Pará, in the Amazon region.

The classified projects have already gone through the qualification phase and meet the axes of income generation, socio-biodiversity, sanitation and solid waste management and inclusive infrastructure and innovation promotion. In total, 34 proposals were received for the so-called Community Base I and 19 proposals for the so-called Structuring Base. The limitation on the number of selected candidates is related to the total financial resources available for the calls, which together amount to BRL 2,950,000.

Institutions that were not selected can present new projects and proposals in the next Call, scheduled to be launched in March 2023 by IBS.

The Sustainable Connections Platform seeks to finance socio-environmental projects to promote positive transformations in favor of the development of Barcarena, primarily benefiting local community organizations that have difficulties in accessing credit. It is carried out by the Hydro Sustainability Fund (FSH) in a strategic partnership with the Partners for the Amazon Platform (PPA), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID/Brazil) and the Bioversity Alliance/CIAT, through the execution of the Executive Secretariat of the Sustainable Barcarena Initiative.

The Sustainable Barcarena Initiative reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with the organizations that participated in the Calls, including those whose projects did not qualify for receiving funds. All subscribers received feedback on the projects submitted for analysis and were able to make suggestions regarding the process, endorsing the formative commitment of the participants in the Calls. On the next 23rd and 24th of November, the proponents of the 15 qualified projects will gather at the Sustainable Connections Partners Meeting to start this journey with dialogue and connections.
