Hydro is one of the eleven industrial companies that closely research together with four RWTH Aachen institutes at AMAP according to the “Open Innovation Principle” on non-ferrous metal materials. < / p>

The Hydro was happy to subscribe to the AMAP cluster as an essential engine, said bell. Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Schneider, Head of R&D at Rolled Products in Bonn, acts as Chairman of the Advisory Board for AMAP, and several Hydro employees conduct research in defined projects in the Aachen cluster.

AMAP pursues the goal of promoting research, development and training in the fields of non-ferrous metal production, further processing through to the manufacture of products and recycling as a close cooperation between industry and university institutes. Due to the successful start of AMAP, both the number of joint projects and the number of cooperating industrial companies and institutes has increased steadily since it was founded in 2012.

By merging the aluminum producing and processing institutes, AMAP and aec offer a wide range of expertise in materials science. The areas of application are varied, they primarily relate to vehicle and aviation technology, building materials and packaging.
