The new plant reflects the strong future market growth of lightweight components in the top segment & nbsp; Vehicle body and will use newly developed, specially formable aluminum alloys from Hydro. Thanks to the lightweight design with aluminum, vehicles can save fuel and emit less CO2 over the entire life cycle.

"The investment meets the increasing customer demand for high-performance sheet metal for lighter aluminum bodies," says Hydro Board Member Kjetil Ebbesberg, who heads the business with rolled products. “Innovative solutions help to save energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the use phase of the vehicle. The investment also strengthens our aluminum cluster in the region, with our primary aluminum production in Neuss and the Alunorf rolling mill next door, ”says Ebbesberg.

Hydro is investing a further 45 million euros in its Rheinwerk in Neuss for the construction of a large-scale plant for crushing, sorting and recycling used aluminum products, in particular beverage cans.

The new sheet metal production plant in Grevenbroich is scheduled to go into operation in the second half of 2016. It creates around 25 new jobs.
