Various special solutions for double, element, SG facades and windows were developed for the system constructions of the WICONA hydro brand. For the Ulm system house and facade construction company Schindler from Roding, this order represents a constructive and logistical challenge that is as big as it is attractive.

The name for the unique project in Hamburg is given by the plot of land on a headland at the end of Brooktorkai: the Ericusspitze. Surrounded on three sides by the water, the eastern HafenCity and the city center meet here.

The investor and builder is Robert Vogel GmbH & amp; Co. KG (Hamburg); the design comes from the Danish architecture firm Henning Larsen Architects. The total investment volume is around € 180 million.

Around 50,000 m² of office space will be created in an exposed location. Around 60 percent of this is rented by the Spiegel Group on a long-term basis, 40 percent is created as freely rentable space in the adjacent Ericus-Contor.

Targeting environmental certification

The energy and technology concept of the mirror building takes into account aspects of ecology, economy and social sustainability in the same way. That is why sustainability is the principle of integrated planning.

The new publishing house is to be certified in gold with HafenCity Hamburg's highest environmental label. All facades are constructed and optimized energetically in such a way that they achieve the desired U-value of ≤ 1.0 W / (m²K).

The entire construction is prefabricated at Schindler GmbH in element construction and then installed on site. This procedure shortens assembly times and ensures the highest level of execution precision in detail.

The planned completion date for the entire complex is the end of 2010.
