The index is considered by many to be the most important international index for sustainability and is an important guide for investors and others to find out the non-financial performance of companies.

Hydro and Alcoa are the only aluminum companies to be included in the DJSI World Index this year. The world index lists the top 10 percent in each industry.

The Hydro's best results in DJSI 2010 were in:

• Transparency
• Biodiversity
• Environmental management systems
• Climate strategy
• Stakeholder engagement
• Occupational health and safety

"There were new evaluation criteria in 2010. We are of course proud to be among the best in this important performance measurement tool for the fifth year in a row," says Kirsten M. Hovi, who is responsible for Hydro's non-financial reporting.

Hydro has been on the list every year since 1999, when the DJSI was first set up.
