“This is an important milestone in the history of Qatalum. Now the system is no longer in the commissioning phase, but in regular operation. Qatalum will be one of the top companies in the aluminum industry, ”says Hilde Merete Aasheim, head of Hydro's Primary Metal business.

Qatalum reached full capacity utilization on September 21st. With its 704 electrolytic cells, the plant can produce 585,000 tons of high-quality primary metal annually.

In addition to the two parallel production lines with cells 1.2 kilometers long, the Qatalum plant in the industrial area of Mesaieed at the gates of the capital Doha includes an anode plant, a storage and port facility and its own power plant.

The Qatalum foundry produces press bolts and casting alloys that meet the strict requirements of customers from all over the world.
