Hydro has started a project to improve the capacities of its plant in Irurtzun (Navarra), to become one of the most cutting-edge aluminum extrusion plants nationwide.

The project, with an investment of 1.5 million euros, involves the transformation of the current extrusion press 9 ’’ to make it one of 10 ’’. In this way, the capacity to produce larger aluminum profiles will be increased, ensuring dimensional precision and the maximum mechanical properties of the Spanish market.

This improvement, which will be operational in September, will benefit different industrial sectors such as the Automotive, Transportation, Construction and Nautical industries, among others.

In the words of Ana Vázquez, Vice President of Hydro Extrusion in Spain and Portugal :

Our Irurtzun plant in Navarra has always been a pioneer in the development of R + D + i projects. We are proud to incorporate this new improvement that will allow us to offer better solutions tailored to the needs of the most demanding customers

Hydro's commitment to local resources allows it to offer aluminum profiles made entirely in Spain: from micro-extrusion and extremely high-precision profiles supplied by its La Selva del Camp (Tarragona), up to large profiles produced at the La Roca del Vallès plants (Barcelona) and Irurtzun (Navarra). The company's global resources are also available, including the largest profiles made in Belgium, up to 620 mm wide and 65 kg / ml.

All Hydro plants in Spain and Portugal have ASI (Aluminum Stewardship Initiative) certification, which recognizes production, supply and government responsible in the aluminum value chain.
