Today, we are on a mission to pioneer the green transition for aluminium. Based on hydropower, solar and wind power, we produce aluminium with a carbon footprint of about 75 percent less than the global average.
Hydro’s primary aluminium production capacity in Norway is 100 percent supplied with renewable power. Worldwide, our renewable power share is above 70 percent. That makes a huge difference in terms of carbon emissions.
The green transition will not be possible without more renewable energy at an affordable price. We are stepping up the game to get to net-zero faster, developing more renewable power for industrial activities.
Energy storage solutions are also vital to get to net-zero. Our battery- and hydrogen ventures support society with more flexible use of renewable energy, enabling green mobility, energy efficiency and security of supply.
Renewable energy development comes with a footprint. We are doing our utmost to minimize impact on local communities and nature, aiming at no net loss of priority biodiversity in new projects.
The green transition will only be just if we are able to coexist and contribute to local value creation where we operate. Our commitment is clear: Powering the green transition to become truly sustainable for all.
