Meet Jennie: "It's something special to be out there with a customer"

The CNC operator who became a traveling salesman.

Jennie Rutgersson at Hydro Extrusion is a technically trained salesman who began his career in Swedish industry as a CNC operator. Since then, she has been a production technician, sales technician and project manager. In other words, she is used to interpreting and handling CAD / CAM models, which means that she has a deep understanding of the underlying work in the development of machined aluminum profiles. In her current role as Account Manager, she is no longer at the CNC machine, but she has the experience with her every day in the meeting with both new and existing customers.

- I am solving the technology problems at home if you say so. I have always been technically inclined and interested in new technology. The interest also makes the job easier, says Jennie.

In her role as Account Manager, Jennie works with about eighty customers who buy anything from 10 to 2000 tons of aluminum. Despite the wide range of customers, she makes no difference between her various projects. She is driven first and foremost by the human encounter.

If you, like Jennie, enjoy traveling, both at work and with your family, you can easily get restless for a year like this. The restrictions linked to covid-19 mean that a traveling salesperson is severely restricted. Of course, Jennie and her colleagues solve problems every day and have a good collaboration, but she admits that she misses being out with her customers.

- The customer meeting and working close to other people in teams is what attracted me to the sales profession. There are special times that allow you to find other solutions, but it is something special to be out on site at the customer and together find new ways forward.

A natural tour guide

Travelling is a big part of Jennie's life. This applies not only to travel itself, but also to travel planning. Something that Jennie thinks is at least as fun as going on an adventure. According to her own statement, she has always been a determined person who likes to keep track of the situation. It does not really matter if she is planning a hiking trip to Andorra, France and Spain or if she is going to help a customer develop a new product. For me, it is important to make a schedule and stick to it to make the end result as good as possible. Then the holiday will be more fun, but also all the other projects you take on.

Jennie's three quick benefits of aluminum

- It can be built in so incredibly much in profiles, from screw pockets to snap functions.
- Extremely light compared to steel, which makes the automotive industry look more and more in our direction.
- Awesome that 75% of all aluminum which have been manufactured are still in circulation on the market.
