Low-carbon aluminium: Hydro REDUXA and Hydro CIRCAL

Hydro is constantly working to develop aluminium alloys with a low carbon footprint. Currently, Hydro offers two types of low-carbon aluminium through our Hydro CIRCAL and Hydro REDUXA material brands.

Hydro CIRCAL recycled aluminium

Hydro CIRCAL 75R is a range of products made with a minimum of 75% recycled, post-consumer scrap aluminium. Using recycled aluminium, we drastically reduce energy use in the production phase whilst still offering high-quality aluminium.

The percentage of scrap material can change depending on specifications from the client, but we can always guarantee a CO2e footprint below 2.3kg of CO2e per 1kg of aluminium produced with Hydro CIRCAL 75R.

Hydro REDUXA low-carbon aluminium

Hydro REDUXA is our low-carbon aluminium. Using renewable energy sources like hydro power during production, we have reduced the carbon footprint per kg of aluminium to just 4kg (less than a quarter of the global average).

The result is a more sustainable aluminium with one of the world’s lowest carbon footprint to date.
