ChargeNode's pioneering charging technology means that many vehicles share a centralized charging unit that distributes charging based on parking time and charging needs. Their innovative solution is an aluminium duct with integrated charging sockets that is mounted like a railing along car parks and which provides charging to all parking spaces. This way you do not have to install expensive charging boxes in every parking space.

To make their systems more climate-friendly, ChargeNode uses aluminium from Hydro, more specifically Hydro CIRCAL and Hydro REDUXA – two products that together push the boundaries of recycled aluminium with a low climate footprint and aluminium with a low carbon footprint.

"A large part of our solution is based on sustainability. Electric cars themselves are a climate-smart choice, but today's infrastructure is not adapted for millions of Swedes to own electric cars. By choosing components from Hydro and other reliable suppliers, we not only have the right function and design, we primarily have a product that is adapted to a circular lifestyle and a future where the electric car will be a natural part of everyday life," says Kristian Sandahl, CEO and founder of ChargeNode.

Scrap, wind and water

The solution from Hydro consists of a duct with associated cover and brackets that hold all cables in place. The main profiles are made of recycled aluminium, Hydro CIRCAL, a material that 75% consists of recycled aluminium scrap. By using recycled aluminium, Hydro drastically reduces energy consumption in the production phase while the material itself maintains the highest quality.

The brackets are manufactured using Hydro REDUXA, a brand within Hydro where all aluminium is manufactured using renewable energy sources, such as hydropower. Hydro REDUXA has a maximum carbon footprint of 4.0 kg CO2 per kg of aluminium produced, which corresponds to a quarter of the global average.

A node for the future

ChargeNode was founded in 2018 with the conviction that new technical solutions with smarter resource utilization are needed to solve today's challenges with large-scale electrification. The company is today a fast-growing greentech company based in Gothenburg. The company offers smart charging systems for large-scale electric car charging based on proprietary and patent-pending charging technology.
