Die technology is a core technology for Hydro's extrusion operations, witness the millions of Euros that the company spends each year on specifically related research and development. The "new" Eupen facility will develop and manufacture high-performance dies used in the aluminium extrusion process.
"We have high expectations for our people in Eupen," says Johnny Undeli, who is responsible for Hydro's extrusion activities in Europe and in Asia.
"This is part of the continuous improvement promise that we give to our customers."
Hydro has more than 40 employees in Eupen, which is located near the German border in the Belgian province of Liège.
The ceremony included a walkthrough of the facility by customers, speeches by company executives and a press conference for local media.
