South Dakota’s Hydro Yankton is a diverse extrusion supplier equipped with 1,800 ton (7”), 2,750 ton (9”), 3,000 ton (8”, 10”) and 3,500 ton (10”) extrusion presses, state-of-the-art machinery, and is able to supply all shapes, alloys and tempers, from one millimeter to several feet in length. Hydro's anodizing capabilities include:

  • Clear Anodizing up to 31’
    A widely used method which involves sulfuric acid followed by hot water seal, clear anodizing builds an anodic layer onto the surface of that aluminum to protect it.
  • Two-Step Anodizing
    Also called electrolytic coloring; after anodizing, the metal is immersed in a bath containing an inorganic metal salt. Current is applied which deposits the metal salt in the base of the pores. The resulting color depends on the processing conditions and the metal salt used. 
  • Hard Coat Clear
    An electrochemical process that provides clear corrosion protection to aluminum and aluminum alloy parts or pieces.
  • Acid Etch
    A chemical etching process that produces a superior finish as an alternative to traditional caustic etch anodizing. Acid etching is performed in the pre-treatment cleaning of aluminum profiles, before the anodizing process.
  • Brite Dip to 18'
    A chemical or electro-brightening treatment which produces an extremely high luster on aluminum for cosmetic applications. The harder tempered the alloy is, the brighter the end product will be. 
  • Traditional Caustic Etch
    This chemical treatment is done prior to anodizing to improve the final appearance of the anodized part. Upwards of 10gm/ sq.ft. of aluminum is etched away from the surface of the aluminum to minimize or eliminate surface defects.
