Investments support growth in aluminium building systems business in India

Hydro did not leave India with the sale of its extrusion plant in Kuppam. Hardly. New investments in its well-established aluminium building systems business in Bengaluru are helping create new business.

Hydro Building Systems celebrated its 25th anniversary in the country in 2021. When it opened in Bengaluru, the company offered Domal-brand systems – one of the first architectural aluminium systems to be commercially available in India.

The focus today is on Technal, a system which represents a step forward in products and technology and offers customers the highest standards of innovation. These include highly complex and unitized façades for high-rise buildings, as well as windows and doors for residential and commercial buildings.

New showroom for innovation and sustainability

Last year, Hydro commemorated its anniversary by opening a new flagship showroom/experience center in Bengaluru – its fifth Technal-brand showroom in India. The showroom provides a space for innovation, creativity, quality and sustainability to both architects, contractors and customers.

In addition, since the start of the pandemic, the company has doubled its warehouse capacity and added a number of new jobs to its organization, including technical staff.

“We are committed to our growth plan by constantly innovating our product offering, tailored to the requirements of the Indian market. Our long-term strategy for India is focused on sustainable growth,” says general manager V Gurumoorthy.

Over 1,000 projects

The company’s head office in Bengaluru handles commercial sales in India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. It also covers more than 60 authorized Technal Network Partners in the region.

It has executed over 1,000 projects in India and Sri Lanka, including a solution for an innovative sun-shading facade at Ascendas International Tech Park Pune, in west-central India.

The 50,000-square meter façade for the project’s two major blocks was designed with unique sunshade elements. It utilized Technal’s split-mullion unitized system, GEODE EL, which offered many benefits over conventional facade systems.

“We look forward to continuing our growth story in India,” says Gurumoorthy.
