Senior Program Manager, Phoenix, AZ

The Senior Program Manager develops and implements manufacturing plan to launch new aluminum extruded and fabricated products to full production. S/he project manages product manufacturing development cycle throughout entire launch process and drives improvements to existing products or processes. The Sr. Program Manager maintains product engineering responsibility for released products.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with sales team and customers to understand and document product requirements. Develop and implement plan to supply prototype parts as part of development or beta test cycle. Communicates regularly with customers on project requirements and status.
  • Develop manufacturing plan for new products and estimate cost to manufacture products and equipment requirements including machine and tool requirements in terms of capacity and capability.
  • Follows gate review and APQP process during product launch.
  • Determines and coordinates justification for capital equipment and Initial build of fabrication tools.
  • Program manage the full launch of aluminum extruded and fabricated parts and assemblies to meet product requirements. Develop and monitor detailed project schedules. Document and monitor action items required to meet the project schedule. Coordinate all activities of the product launch team.
  • Work with extrusion plants outside the west region on sourcing extrusions beyond the west capabilities. Also, work directly with outside vendors to negotiate pricing and source equipment, complete manufacturing cells and tooling. Also, monitor their delivery schedules and product designs to meet customer expectations.
  • Program manages manufacturing and cost improvements to existing products or processes.
  • Supports all manufacturing and engineering functions within the west region and NA facilities and other duties as assigned.
  • Position will be based in Phoenix, AZ, but, will have program management responsibilities in Phoenix, AZ, Portland, OR. and City of Industry, CA. as required. Travel to those facilities, other Hydro locations as well as customers will be expected

Key Requirements: 

Education:

Minimum requirement of BS in Mechanical Engineering.

Training:

Must be able to read and understand all work and safety instructions in English. Must be able to use and maintain all basic tools and measuring equipment pertinent to this specific position.

Skills:

Creative product development and/or manufacturing development background with ability to lead new product launch projects through completion. Strong fabrication manufacturing background and aluminum extrusion design and manufacturing knowledge is a plus. Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite and SolidWorks 3D modeling is a requirement. Ability to design tooling fixtures is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum 4 to 5 years’ experience in new product development, manufacturing product launch and project management. SolidWorks related experience is preferred. Experience in other 3D modeling software will be considered. Strong working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing. Experience in the fabrication of metal components including extruding, machining, stamping, punching, welding and assembly.
