Aluminum is present in people's daily lives in many different ways, from long-life milk packaging and cans to means of transport, whether they are bicycles, cars, buses or planes, passing through windows, laptops and smartphones. Not to mention its use as a raw material for the creation of works of art and design objects. It is with the mission of showing the importance of this metal for society that the project “Casa do Alumínio - an experience of architecture, art and design” arrives in Belém, through the Ministry of Citizenship, through the Law of Incentive to Culture and Usina Projects.

Built from two containers, with a floor area of 150m2, Casa do Alumínio is an installation that mimics a real house, with bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen, balcony and garage. Aluminum is present in all environments, and is used in furniture, decorative objects, equipment and construction systems, as well as in our daily lives.

The itinerant exhibition, which has already visited São Paulo, Brasília and São Luís, will gain an extra area produced by Hydro and Albras in the edition that now arrives in Belém. In this additional space, a garden will be set up with various activities and interactions games, with emphasis on the simulation of the reforestation program conducted by the company at its mine in Paragominas. The visitor will be invited to ‘get your hands dirty’, and plant seeds and seedlings typical of the region. At the end, you will receive a certificate attesting your contribution and, after the end of the exhibition, the seeds and seedlings will be transported to the company's reforestation area, at Mineração Paragominas. The space also brings technological and virtual reality experiences to explain, in general terms, the industrial process of obtaining aluminum.

Among the event's sponsors, Hydro and Albras aim to bring Paraense society closer to the aluminum industry. The idea is that the visitor can understand the three main stages of the metal production process: the extraction of bauxite; the refining of bauxite in aluminum oxide, alumina; the transformation of alumina into the primary metal aluminum, and the transformation of that into final products. Pará is a state that has a fundamental role in this chain, being a global aluminum producer pole that has the third largest reserve of bauxite in the world. According to data from the Brazilian Aluminum Association - ABAL, Brazil is the eleventh producer of primary aluminum, the third producer of bauxite and the third largest producer of alumina. Likewise, it is a reference in the recycling activity, reusing practically all available scrap.

The house will also have a special program for children from selected local public schools, with play activities, painting workshops with stencils, crafts with threads, sheets and aluminum sheets.
