The visit was part of the launch event of the Extrusion Europe Women Network, held on March 8th in Barcelona. More than 150 female employees from all levels within the company participated in this first women's meeting with the aim of giving visibility to female talent, identifying areas for improvement and establishing action plans to boost their presence in the industrial field.

During the celebration of the Extrusion Europe Women Network, Hilde Merete Aasheim, Hydro's global CEO, said: "Events like this are crucial to create a space to share experiences, learn from colleagues and bring ideas on how Hydro can improve in attracting, retaining and developing female talent, in line with our strategy on diversity and inclusion. Gender diversity is a vital part of this strategy and, although the situation varies greatly from region to region in a highly male-dominated industry, we have set a target of 25% female employees by 2025.

Ana Vázquez, Vice President of Hydro Extrusion in Spain and Portugal stated, "we are proud to host this European meeting organized by Hydro, as our company is firmly committed to diversity. In terms of gender equality, we have worked hard in the last few years to achieve a more inclusive environment in Spain and Portugal, increasing the ratio of female employees from 18.5% in 2018 to the current 32.3% - the highest in Hydro Extrusion Europe - with a presence at all levels of our organization. The current hiring rate is targeting 43.7%, and our ambition will continue until we reach the same equal representation between men and women that we are seeing in our society. I consider women's participation in the industrial field as a clear added value that we must enhance in order to have different perspectives and enrich our approach to challenges."
