Hydro’s Energy business area is responsible for safe and efficient operations of Hydro’s hydropower plants in Norway, and our experts work actively in several markets in Europe and Brazil to support the energy agendas of Hydro’s global aluminium business. In addition, Energy has an ambition to grow new business within new emerging energy technologies.
Business Development New Technologies (BDNT) was established as a new unit in Energy a few years ago and is set up to be in front in exploring business opportunities that Hydro could pursue arising from the global energy technology trends. BDNT plays a central role to look for and develop potential new business opportunities for Hydro within wind, solar and batteries as well as managing existing ownership positions in part owned companies. To cover this area comprehensively, we will strengthen our team with a Business Development Manager, who preferably has competence and experience within battery/energy storage.
Area of Responsibility
As a Business Development Manager, your overall responsibility will be to develop, mature and evaluate opportunities for novel business concepts in the new energy technology space. That means to contribute with ideas and develop and deliver business cases for the Energy and Hydro management, as well as subsequent support and monitoring of its implementation. The main area of work will currently be focused on maturing opportunities within the battery value chain.
You will be part of a highly competent and enthusiastic team and have the opportunity to influence Hydro’s overall strategy and battery agenda.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or equivalent in technology and/or Economics
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business development role, or similar, from energy or other relevant industry, preferably in an international setting. Experience from energy storage business would be considered an advantage
- Experience from strategy, mergers and acquisitions, negotiations and early stage investment is an advantage
- Fluent English, both oral and written, is required. Knowledge of Norwegian is an advantage
