Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property

We now seek a specialist Legal Counsel to join our Intellectual Property (IP) department. Working closely with Hydro’s management and business units, the department provides strategic advice and support on all aspects of intellectual property law.

This is an exciting opportunity for a business-oriented lawyer to help our technology experts extract the value of their innovation and secure Hydro’s IP rights in external collaborations and transactions, as well as to support our branding strategy with trademark and marketing law competence.

Area of Responsibility

You will support our business with all legal issues related to IP, such as:

  • IP strategy
  • Licenses and cooperation agreements
  • Inventor remunerations issues
  • IP due diligence in transactions
  • IP infringements or disputes
  • Trademark registration and support
  • IP awareness training
  • Drafting IP related guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Law
  • Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience from a law firm or industry with focus on commercial and intellectual property law
  • IP specialization and industry experience will be considered an advantage
  • Excellent drafting and communication skills
  • Good business understanding and negotiation skills
  • Fluency in English is required. Additional language skills in Norwegian, German or Portuguese are beneficial

Additional Information

The position is based in Oslo and reports to the Head of the IP department. You will join an international team of IP specialists combining legal and technical competence.
