Energy Markets manages Hydro’s overall power portfolio of equity power production, long-term power agreements for Hydro’s industry activities and market-based power contracts.
In close cooperation with Power Operations, Energy Markets has the responsibility of planning the production of Hydro’s water resources so that it optimizes value for the company.
Energy Trading is a part of Energy Markets and we are responsible for trading in the Nordic and German power markets, emissions and el-certificates related to Hydro’s power portfolios in Germany and the Nordic countries. Trading is also responsible for executing on a hedging mandate for limiting downside risks in our Nordic power portfolio, as well as executing on energy sourcing orders from within the whole company.
Area of Responsibility
We are looking for a candidate that actively assist in discussions and collaboration with other teams in Energy Markets as well as the broader Hydro, continuously analyze relevant energy markets, and build and execute hedging strategies and trading strategies. In addition to pure market related tasks it is desirable that you contribute to our ongoing effort to automate and digitalize work processes.
Qualifications
- Higher education in engineering, economics and or finance
- Experience from trading energy products
- Preferable with experience within fundamental Energy pricing/Modelling
- Strong IT skills and preferable but not required is programming knowledge in e.g. Python and/or R
- Written and spoken English at a high Level
You have a strong analytical mindset with an ability to process a lot of information in a short time, and you have an eye for details without losing the big picture. Obviously, you need a strong commercial drive and dedication to positive results
As a person you are stress-resilient and have the capability to channel tough learnings into concrete improvements.
