Customers benefit from delivery of extrusions from Hydro production sites that are certified against the ASI Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Standard. ASI’s Standards apply throughout the supply chain, from mining through to downstream sectors that use aluminium in their products. This does not necessarily mean the material itself is ASI certified. 

Customers benefit from a dedicated Hydro Group Strategy to achieve a net-zero target for both company and products. Our climate ambition towards 2050 is built on three pillars: delivering zero carbon products to our customers, removing carbon from our own operations, and developing more renewable energy, energy storage capacity and green hydrogen (covering Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions). For Hydro Extrusions we have regional and location specific sustainability roadmaps with dedicated targets to improve our climate, energy, waste and water impact.

In Hydro we are obliged to our customers by adhering to specific ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) criteria in the supply chain and implementing certified, responsible sourcing practices. Customers can obtain the average metal supply chain CO2 footprint of the delivery sites (location specific EPD on profiles produced by an average billet) as well as country of origin of aluminium being used for a given period. Additional information on the average recycled content specifying pre- and post-consumer scrap shares is available on request. 

Customers benefit from our Hydro one-stop-shop approach. We deliver more than just an aluminium profile, we deliver a finished aluminium solution including additional steps in surface treatment, fabrication, assembly, packaging… One supplier for all the process steps provides ease of doing business for the customer and minimizes the risk of potential failures.

Customers benefit from our tailored service solutions and the right experts for that. We can offer services around our production process e.g. product development together with our application engineers, customized logistic solutions, profile academies, digital solutions (EDI). And for that the customer has personal contacts in every plant (internal sales, engineers, quality department, logistics, accounting) and in the field (Account Manager, Application engineers). The power of our people is an asset to the customer.

Our target is to supply in time, defect free, according to specifications, at the shortest possible lead-time. Always. Hydro uses in house QMS and testing facilities and has a European wide location network to secure supply and always provide industry benchmark service and documentation.

Customers benefit from the disclosure of the EcoVadis rating, a trusted evidence-based online platform that provides supplier sustainability ratings and allows companies to assess the ESG performance of their suppliers. Hydro has a main overarching parent account Norsk Hydro ASA.

Customers receive physical profile and product deliveries based on low-carbon and/or recycled aluminium (material subject to local availability). Qualified aluminium comes from either primary smelters with a guaranteed maximum of 4.1kg CO2e or recycling units disclosing the recycling content including pre- and post-consumer scrap shares. Hydro guarantees the physical deployment of the ordered aluminium and applies a batch-to-batch approach. Low-carbon and/or Recycled Aluminium material characteristics are documented by an officially published and third party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Based on the actual order placed, the customer receives detailed LCA data regarding the ordered profiles at least once a year. The information includes exact assessment of the aluminium being used to produce the customer order as well as the value-added steps of the products delivered, including energy, production processes, surface treatment, packing and transport (Scope 1 - 3). A comparison with average European figures is included, that allows to identify potential savings e.g. on CO2 emissions. Customers are entitled to obtain these values according to different calculation methods of recycled content. For both calculation methods, the same international standards and validated data sets were used by our independent LCA expert. This gives the customer the possibility to select the appropriate value according to the LCA model of the considered end-product.   

Hydro provides (half day) customized sustainability trainings / academies to customer staff, in house or at Hydro locations. Together with you we discuss your needs to put together the right training for your purposes.

Customers are entitled to Hydro EcoDesign services for profile and product development using our internal EcoDesign experts. By incorporating Hydro EcoDesign we aim to reduce negative impacts of products on the environment and health of people, amplifying the positive effects on product functionality and the society.

Customers receive physical profile and product deliveries based exclusively on Hydro Recycled Low-Carbon Aluminium (material subject to local availability). Qualified aluminium comes from European recycling units disclosing the recycling content including pre- and post-consumer scrap shares with a guaranteed maximum of 4.1kg CO2 per kg aluminium. Hydro guarantees the physical deployment of the ordered aluminium and applies a batch-to-batch approach. Hydro Recycled Low-Carbon Aluminium material characteristics are documented by an officially published, and third party verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Customers will have the possibility to develop and execute co-branding campaigns with Hydro together with the local Hydro marketing team. Logos, videos, pictures, messages, and other communication materials can be used under trademark license agreements. Hydro can support external communication through for example social media, newsletters, customer stories, press releases, exhibitions, seminars and advertising.

Customer will have on demand, direct access to regional Hydro Sustainability specialists. This enables high level knowledge transfer on a wide range of sustainability related topics such as (but not limited to) LCA/EPD, ASI, Recycling, Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions, Certifications, Norms and Regulations. Access to our production locations.

Customers have the possibility to develop individual sustainability related strategies with the support of Hydro. Examples of strategy subjects: Closing the loop projects, more sustainable transport/packing solutions, the use of ASI certified material, the use of the ASI logo for marketing purposes and / or other initiatives that our customers think of to support a low carbon society.
