Hydro, an integrated energy and aluminum company with around 6,500 direct employees in Brazil, participated for the first time in the survey and received certification from the international consultancy Great Place To Work (GPTW). The seal is awarded based on a survey carried out with employees and evaluates several factors of the organizational climate, such as: confidence in the company's leadership, pride, innovation and work environment. Hydro stood out in terms of employee pride and belonging. Participants said they are proud to tell others that they work for the company and would recommend the company to friends and family as a great place to work.

“We are very happy with this achievement, which recognizes our work in caring for employees and investments to provide a welcoming and reliable environment. Obtaining certification confirms that we are on the right way, as it highlights many positive points and also opportunities for continuous improvement in the organizational climate. Our main objective is not the seal itself, but the certainty that our people have a sense of belonging and that we are promoting an inclusive work environment, which allows the development of all our male and female employees”, emphasizes Nelia Lapa, Vice President of HR, Communication, Health and Safety at Hydro in Brazil.

To obtain the certification, the company's male and female employees answered the survey, between the 4th and 26th of May. All employees at Hydro's units in Brazil - in Pará, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Santa Catarina - were invited to participate.

Over the past year, focusing on diversity and inclusion has been one of Hydro's top priorities for improving the work environment. An important front of this work is the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging Program (DIP), which recognizes the needs of specific groups, such as gender, people with disabilities, races and ethnicities, LGBTQIA+ people and generations, and promotes many actions to provide an environment workplace that respects and welcomes differences. The initiative brings many benefits to the organizational climate, promotes collaboration between teams, reduces conflicts and improves receptivity to new ideas and innovation at work.

Hydro Brasil invested heavily in policies aimed at gender equality. As a result, in 2022, 49% of the company's hires were people who identify themselves as female. The company has the global goal of increasing the representation of this public in its teams to 25% by 2025. In Brazil, the company operates on different fronts to achieve this goal: opening affirmative vacancies, creating a trainee program aimed specifically at people that identify with the female gender and Internship and Young Apprentice Programs with at least 50% of women among those selected. In addition, the company has invested in the development of female leadership and in the training of female labor in locations close to its operations so that they can compete for jobs, on an equal basis with men.
