Belém, November 6, 2023 - In compliance with the order from the 1st Civil and Business Court of Barcarena, starting today, the Special Missions Command of the Military Police of the State of Pará is carrying out the reintegration of ownership of a plot of land belonging to Alunorte in the Pioneiro neighborhood, urban area of Barcarena.

The area has been occupied illegally since March of this year. Since then, the company has been in dialogue with local authorities to ensure the reintegration is carried out respecting the integrity and dignity of the people involved, as well as the conservation of the local environment. On March 24, the occupants of the land were notified by the court officer in an attempt at voluntary evacuation. A second notice was issued by the court officer on July 21 in another attempt at voluntary evacuation.

The area undergoing reintegration comprises future projects of the company for the benefit of Alunorte employees. The company's right to reclaim the area was recognized in the court decision.

The company maintains a helpline for people needing social and psychological assistance, as the evacuation progresses. An ambulance, support for pets, and a facility for storage and transportation of belongings are being provided. The company will support cases of vulnerability by coordinating with the families and the Municipal Social Assistance Secretary.

Last Thursday (2nd), Alunorte became aware of a request from the Public Defender's Office of the State of Pará regarding the case and reaffirms that the entity and the Public Prosecutor's Office were invited to the meeting to prepare for the operation carried out by the Military Police of Pará on October 30.

Alunorte continues discussions regarding the Public Defender's Office's request in the appropriate judicial forum. The decision of the 1st Civil and Business Court of Barcarena remains favorable to the reintegration of possession.
