Ready for the next adventure

Working in a global company of 35,000 employees in 40 countries, there are opportunities galore. Eva Finitsis is grabbing one of them.

Eva Finitsis knows a thing or two about the world. Born in Greece to a Greek father and Norwegian mother, she spent her first nine years ther

e, then moved to Norway.

After completing grade school, high school and college in Norway, she set her sights on a new horizon: Queen Mary University of London, where she earned a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management.

“It was a big change as a kid moving to Norway,” she recalls. “I remember being excited, though. I was eager to study abroad.”

Returning to Norway, Eva joined Hydro’s Global HR unit in 2014, where she was engaged in employer branding strategy development and Hydro’s student programs. Later, she worked in Performance & Development and People Resourcing.

Eva was one of the founders of a group called Hydro Young Professionals. “It provides a common voice, an opportunity to learn,” she explains, “and build a professional network for employees in an early stage of their careers.”

The network kicked off in Oslo in 2015, and new networks spread the success to other Hydro locations. “I am glad that the network has expanded further,” she says.

Most recently, she has been working on the implementation of Hydro’s new HR system, ONE, which integrates all performance, training and career development programs into a single platform.

The introduction of our ONE employee development platform has been a global project in Hydro, with Eva playing an integral part in planning, development and execution.

When she got the opportunity to take a post in the United States, she knew what she had to do.

“I grew up hearing about New York City, where my Dad lived for a number of years, and about the rest of the U.S. I have traveled there a lot, too, so I am really looking forward to living there,” Eva says.

“Everything is bigger, better, more there. More to choose from. It’s going to be very interesting to see – a lot is going to be different. That’s the point of the experience: to learn something new. I’ve been having that craving for some time.”

Eva will have a lot of responsibility in her new role, building up a team for recruiting for many of Hydro’s North America operations, which are home to more than 6,000 employees. Bringing this work in-house will save a lot of money in external recruiting agency fees.

Bon voyage, Eva!
