- This is a historic milestone in the history of Qatalum: we leave the start-up phase behind and start the operational phase. Qatalum's operations will be among the largest in the aluminum industry, says Hilde Merete Aasheim, head of the Primary Metal business area at Hydro.

Qatalum, which reached full production capacity this September 21, will annually produce 585 thousand tons of high quality primary metal with its 704 electrolysis cells.

In addition to two parallel production lines with 1.2 km long crucibles, the Mesaieed industrial complex on the outskirts of Doha includes an anode factory, port and storage facilities and its own power station.

At the foundry house of Qatalum, casting alloys and pressure screws are produced that meet the strict quality requirements of our global customer portfolio.
