With the embargo on Alunorte's operations in Barcarena, Mineração Paragominas has been operating since March with 50% of its capacity. The resource to grant collective vacations has been used to mitigate the reduction in production and activities at the mine. & Nbsp;
After the use of collective vacations, it was necessary to resort to the suspension of employment contracts, which was approved by the assembly of the Union of Workers of the Extractive Industries of Amapá and Pará (STIEAPA), in order to maintain long-term jobs . The temporary suspension of the employment contract is provided for in Brazilian labor law and respects the collective agreement established with the employees of Mineração Paragominas. Following the legislation, a qualification program will be offered to employees whose contracts will be suspended.
In addition, Mineração Paragominas will reduce 175 positions of outsourced employees over the next few weeks. Part of the activities carried out by these third parties will now be carried out by employees of the mining company.
