Hydro made a new donation to the Paragominas City Hall to help structuring the elderly shelter, which also receives people with a suspected case of Covid-19, and to protect professionals in charge of any fight against the pandemic. This month, the company delivered construction materials, such as cement, tiles and PVC lining, meant for the construction of a host space in the Municipal Secretary of Social Assistance (Semas). The action is yet another initiative that integrates a series of actions from Hydro in support of authorities and communities during the pandemic.

In November, Hydro made a new donation to the city, this time with over 65,000 health items, including 70% liquid and gel alcohol, and disposable face protection masks. These supplies are being distributed to professionals in basic health units, who work directly with the population.

Throughout the year, Hydro worked to support initiatives to prevent and combat Covid-19. More than R$ 20 million was used to purchase medical and hospital equipment, virus detection tests, face protection masks, in addition to the purchase of basic food baskets distributed to the cities where it is present. The resource was also used to guarantee support for the installation of field hospitals. In Pará, the capital Belém and seven other cities were benefited from donations: Barcarena, Paragominas, Ipixuna do Pará, Tomé-açu, Acará, Moju and Abaetetuba.

“Hydro has been working on different fronts to support the efforts to prevent and combat the new coronavirus. All initiatives are the result of constant dialogues with the authorities and local communities to identify the needs and priorities during this period of the pandemic period”, says Domingos Campos, Hydro's Sustainability Director.
