Hydro Paragominas held this Tuesday (12th), the inaugural class of the classes of the first courses of the Professional Training Program, an initiative that will offer throughout 2021, a total of 230 free spaces in 18 classes for courses offered to residents of eleven communities close to the company's ore pipeline, in the municipalities of Abaetetuba, Acará, Ipixuna do Pará, Moju and Tomé-Açu.

The inaugural class was given in the morning and afternoon shifts, at the headquarters of the National Industrial Training Service (Senai) in Barcarena, for the 40 selected students from Abaetetuba, from the communities of Nossa Senhora das Graças, Itacupé, Sucupira and Nova Colônia. Regular classes take place from (01/13), and the first classes will train professionals in the welder and sander courses.

Farmer Márcio Ribeiro Ferreira, 29, who lives in the community of Colônia Nova, chose a welder course and intends to get a job in the area after completion. “When I heard about the course, I didn't think twice and signed up. It is a great opportunity. My plan is to get a good job when I leave the course ”. states.

“This Professional Training Program, in conjunction with Senai, is yet another action that reinforces our commitment to the development of the communities where we operate. The goal is to build a more sustainable society together. Knowledge and training are fundamental pillars of this construction ”, declares the Industrial Director of Mineração Paragominas, Evilmar Fonseca.

The entire program is carried out in partnership with Senai and is in line with Hydro's strategy of making a positive difference in the communities surrounding its activities.

In Ipixuna do Pará, the selection process has already ended and soon classes will also start. Training courses for welders, sanders and electricians will be held in the municipality, totaling 50 vacancies.

In the other municipalities, the enrollment stage will still be made, for later definition of the schedule of the courses, taking care of permanent dialogue with the communities and authorities. Throughout 2021 there will be 18 training classes in the Welder, Sander, Electrician and Administrative courses. Places are limited and intended primarily for residents of 11 communities neighboring Hydro Paragominas Mining Pipeline operations.

Prevention of Covid-19 - The courses follow all the health guidelines recommended during the pandemic. Classes will have a maximum limit of 15 students and all prevention protocols will be followed, such as temperature checking, mandatory use of masks, distance between participants and availability of gel alcohol.
