The order also shows that the German automobile manufacturer Hydro trusts as the preferred supplier of extruded aluminum safety components. With the new order, Hydro is now supplying around 60 percent of the bumpers for the various Audi models.

The order includes deliveries of the front components for both the European and the American variant of the future model. The calculated volume is approximately 250,000 parts per year.

Hydro will produce the bumpers at the Raufoss plant in Norway. The aluminum profiles for the crash boxes as well as the other extruded parts for energy absorption also come from Raufoss.

The various components are assembled at Hydro's Czech plant, which is currently still under construction, and from there it is delivered to the Audi plants in Germany and Hungary.

Longstanding and reliable supplier

Hydro already supplies extruded safety components for most Audi models, including the A4, A6, A8, the TT sports car and the Q5 and Q7 in the compact SUV segment.
