Autódromo Internacional do Algarve – the most impressive motor speedway in Portugal – has opened. Soon, Formula One race cars will be spinning around the track, with Domal-brand aluminium building systems all around them.
The Domal brand's team in Portugal supplied systems for the Algarve International Autodrome over a six-week period this past summer. Not all the buildings at the speedway were built with Domal systems. But the most important, including the welcome building and paddock area, and the VIP tower, feature the Hydro brand.
Orignally, says Hydro's Dinis Ataíde, the motor park project had been prescribed in a different systems brand.
"Excellent relations with the metal builder, our technical capacity to provide the solutions, and strong performance in logistics allowed us to win the order," says Ataíde, with Hydro's building systems organization in Portugal.
Hydro delivered Domal Mirror façades, Domal Easy Eco doors and windows, and Domal 4100 PT grids. Finishings were anodized silver and the glass used in the systems varied in width from 26-to-40 millimeters.
All in all, Domal's deliveries accounted for more than 30 metric tons of components and systems.
Ricardo Pina Arquitectos Associados served as architect for Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, with H. Hagen AS the contractor.
Hydro's customer, the metal builder, was Seveme - Industrias Metalúrgicas, Lda.
The largest integrated aluminium company in Europe, Hydro is one of the preferred suppliers of aluminium building systems worldwide. Its international brands – Domal, Technal and Wicona – cover the range of system products, from windows and doors for single-home residential solutions to the erection of façades on major structures such as new airports or high-rise buildings.
