About Nicolas
I was born in Nouvelle-Aquitaine in the Deux Sèvres. I grew up in Vernouillet and after my father's transfer to Chartres, I decided to settle there permanently. My motto ? Trust without control is out of control. We can trust the people we work with, but it is essential to control the work of our team as well.
Education
Initially, I wanted to be a baker, but dissuaded by many of my teachers, I turned to maintenance. After a baccalaureate in electromechanics, I continued my studies towards a DUT in industrial engineering and maintenance and a professional license in production unit management with an advanced maintenance technique option. Before joining Hydro, I worked as a maintenance technician in the automotive industry, then in the cosmetics industry. The crisis of 2008 gave me the opportunity to join Hydro. I started as a Quality Controller, then as a Quality Technician and today I am Quality Manager. I managed to evolve very quickly!
Job and Location in Hydro
I joined the Hydro Extrusions Lucé team 17 years ago and have been Quality Manager for the last 2 years.
Duties
There is no typical day in Quality. My day is marked by production meetings and calls with customers to ensure the control of their products or their requests for improvement. I must be in contact with all the Hydro teams. As a quality manager, you must be analytical, patient and transparent with customers. My priority? Establishing a trust relationship even when customers are dissatisfied, you must take the time to listen to them in order to best meet their needs.
Why did you choose this job?
I especially like the customer contact. I am interested in what our extruded aluminium profiles are used for. Aluminum is a material with many applications!
Development
To move forward, we must innovate. I am proud that two new machines will reinforce the quality procedures at Lucé and improve the daily life of my team:
- A 3D quality control machine. Faster, innovative technology and scanning capabilities.
- A hardness tester controlling the hardness of products, it is the most reliable and realistic machine on the market.
Goals
We must provide our customers with high quality products within a given time. For that, we carry out our quality controls according to the specifications of our various customers and our quality standards.
