Hydro lends a helping hand
Contributing to both global and local charitable causes is an essential part of Hydro's corporate social responsibility work.
Because entrepreneurship is one of our core values, giving to the charitable organization Hand in Hand is a natural fit. Hydro donates generously to Hand in Hand, which aims to break the cycle of poverty and dependency in countries such as Afghanistan, India and Rwanda by training women to become entrepreneurs.
This approach has led to job creation and improvements for families and the communities in which they live.
From global to local efforts
Hydro's charitable efforts don’t stop there. We also encourage employees to contribute to their local communities, together with the company’s support.
As an example, our aluminium manufacturing company in Poland organized a greeting card art contest for children from underprivileged families. Arranged in collaboration with local children’s institutions, the contest rewarded the children with prizes including winter holiday trips.
Senior assistance
Hydro in Austria was the main sponsor of a charity concert featuring young local bands. Proceeds from the event, which was arranged by the Nenzing Lions Club, went to the Krankenpflegeverein nursing home.
This was just one of many charitable projects that Hydro has supported in the Nenzing area.
“Hydro is one of the biggest companies in the region and we take our corporate social responsibility toward the community of Nenzing and the people who live here very seriously,” says Gerold Trommelschläger, who manages the Nenzing plant.
