More aluminum is produced each year than all other non-ferrous metals combined. This metal is valuable and widely appreciated for its numerous attractive characteristics which include tensile strength, resistance to corrosion and rust, malleability, density, ductility, weldability, formability, workability and more.
Hydro Extrusion specializes in custom extrusions. Our facilities are certified to ISO 9001:2015 and feature in-house die-making facilities. We design and manufacture tooling using the latest technology and CAD/CAM design, and offer in-house testing capability for quality assurance. Our expert staff of metallurgists and engineering, manufacturing, design and marketing specialists can provide every service to create the products you need.
There are several benefits to completing the entire process of custom extrusions from start to finish in one location, like Hydro provides, such as:
- Better customization.
Formulas and dies can be easily changed to provide an incredible range of customization from start to finish. - Lower productions costs.
Customers benefit from significant savings when all factory processes are done under one roof. - Higher quality control.
We can easily see what goes into the process and address any problems that occur at the source. - Faster processing times.
When parts do not have to be outsourced to be drilled, polished, painted, punched, welded or CNC machined, orders can be competed quickly.
Although all aluminum alloys can be extruded and a wide variety of shapes can be created, there are limiting factors which need to be considered when determining if a particular part can be extruded successfully. These include size, shape, alloy, tolerance, scrap ratio, extrusion ratio and tongue ratio. Here are some other criteria that will need to be considered:
- Description, drawings, specifications to be met, and end-use of product
- Temper and alloy, or specific strength, machinability, weldability, tolerances and corrosion resistance requirements
- Surface finish options: exposed surface, anodizing, automatic powder coating, electrostatic wet painting, thermal improvements, plating
- Secondary fabrication: bending, stretch forming, cutting, punching, drilling, mitering, precision CNC machining, etc.
Hydro Extrusion's nationwide network of production and supply facilities enables us to produce all aluminum shapes, sizes, alloys and tempers, by both direct and indirect extrusion, to meet the needs of the automotive, mass transit, bridge decking, telecommunications, and solar/renewable energy industries, as well as an unlimited number of consumer and industrial markets.
We can satisfy the most challenging requirements from standard profiles to complex multi-part aluminum extrusions in standard and proprietary aluminum alloys with dimensional accuracy and superior surface quality.
Hydro is the world’s leading aluminum solutions company. In the U.S. alone, we employ about 6,000 people in more than twenty locations, including City of Industry, CA. With decades of experience in custom aluminum extrusions in California, we offer state-of-the-art solutions to your most complex design problems.
