Hydro to close two extrusion plants in the U.S.

Hydro has decided to close Extrusion North America’s facilities in City of Industry, California, and Delhi, Louisiana. Both facilities will close during 2027.

Operations in City of Industry will conclude on January 1, 2027, with limited activity continuing through the first quarter of the year. Operations in Delhi will conclude on April 1, 2027, followed by a wind down period through the third quarter of 2027.

Both sites face low capacity utilization and require significant capital investment to meet operational standards. Closing the two sites is intended to strengthen Hydro’s long-term position in the U.S. by optimizing operational footprint and focusing investments where they can have the greatest impact.

The plants employ approximately 350 people in total. Work has commenced to discuss transition packages and provide support, and affected employees are being encouraged to apply for open positions at other locations in North America.

To ensure business continuity for affected customers, the process of retooling and transferring production to Hydro’s other North American facilities has already begun. This work is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
