Hydro supports science and education
Hydro believes in contributing to the communities where it does business. Investing in educational efforts is one way of doing this.
Hydro is a global company, but we encourage employees to initiate and participate in activities that help their local communities. Such activities include supporting non-profit organizations to contributing to community events. We are also passionate about helping young people through various educational initiatives.
Supporting students FIRST
In the United States, Hydro is a Silver Sponsor and material supplier of FIRST’s Robotics Competition. FIRST is a not-for-profit public charity designed to help spark interest in science and technology in the minds of young people.
In 2016, Hydro provided FIRST team members in the Detroit area with extrusions for building their robots, and employees acted as mentors, giving engineering support during the week-long championships and final matches. The competition attracted more than 18,000 students from as far away as Australia, China and Norway.
Science for all
In India, Hydro is contributing to efforts to break the cycle of generations of poverty by helping children get a better education. We established a science lab in 2016 in a school with limited means, located 160 kilometers from our manufacturing plant in Pune.
Hydro provided books, models, binoculars, microscopes and other tools to help young children learn about science in a stimulating and interactive manner.
