Kęty’s history dates back to 1953, when the installation of the first induction furnace marked the start of aluminium casting operations in Poland. In 2000, the plant began independent operations as the newly formed Alumetal company. The plant has since been heavily modernized to improve efficiency and sustainability performance.
Today, the plant specializes in producing premium foundry alloys made from recycled aluminium, with approximately 80 percent of the output serving the automotive industry. The plant’s chemical department also offers fluxes and salts for the casting and steel industries.
In 2023, Alumetal was acquired by Hydro, followed by the announcement of a NOK 200 million investment in the modernization and expansion of the Kęty plant. The investment included an upgraded casting line and a photovoltaic farm that both became operational in 2025. Alumetal was officially rebranded as Hydro in January 2026.
