Simensen succeeds John Thuestad who has decided to step down after eight years as EVP for Bauxite & Alumina.
Simensen joined Hydro in 1994 and has held several positions across the company, most recently as EVP for Aluminium Metal from 2024. Simensen has previously held positions as EVP for People & HSE, Senior Vice President (SVP) and Head of Aluminium Metal Commercial, and SVP and Director of Global Businesses Services. Simensen holds a Master of Management from BI Norwegian Business School.
Thuestad is stepping down at age 66, after having served as EVP for Bauxite & Alumina since 2018. Thuestad came to Hydro in 2017, having previously held positions as EVP in SAPA from 2012 to 2017, Group President Primary Metals in Alcoa from 2007 to 2012, and CEO of Elkem from 2005 to 2007.
