Our plant in St. Augustine, Florida is a fully-integrated aluminum extrusion and fabrication facility with state-of-the-art equipment. An on-site cast house assures a reliable source of aluminum and provides easier access to customized alloys. The facility also provides advanced extrusion and contract manufacturing services.
Hydro’s extrusions are ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified and offers special capabilities such as engineering assistance for product design, spiral extrusions, 6063 drawn tubing, extensive CNC machining, long-bed vertical mills, surface profiling and color analysis indexing.
We are also the only soft alloy extruder in North America with indirect press technology. The indirect extrusion process allows for a more consistent grain structure and better dimensional tolerances, improving the machinability and finishing of our rod and bar products and providing our customers with increased control capabilities and greater efficiency.
You may be aware of the most prominent characteristics of aluminum – light weight (about 1/3 that of steel), strength, malleability (second only to gold), resistance to rust and corrosion, excellent heat and electrical conductivity, joinability and machinability (it can be welded, riveted, bonded, bolted, cut, drilled and shaped) – but this remarkable metal has other unique properties that make it indispensable:
- Availability:
Alumina is the most abundant metal found in the Earth’s crust. - Flexibility:
It is flexible under heavy loads and recovers quickly from impact. - Non-toxic and impermeable:
Aluminum, no matter how thin, cannot be permeated by light, smell or taste. This makes it an ideal packaging material for foods, beverages and pharmaceutical products. - Non-magnetic:
It does not acquire a magnetic charge, making it ideal for high-voltage applications and electronics. - Non-pyrophoric (non-sparking):
It does not emit sparks and can be used near explosive materials or in flammable environments. - Ductility:
It is easy to cold work and fabricate. It can be drawn into thin wires, making it ideal for high-voltage transmission and distribution lines. - Highly reflective:
It can be used to shield products or areas from light, radio waves, or infrared radiation. - Accepts finishes easily:
Although beautiful in its natural state, aluminum can be finished in a variety of ways (painting, anodizing, coating, electroplating) or to mimic steel, iron or wood.
Aluminum alloy is easy to work with and an endless variety of unique profiles can be produced, including many that are simply not possible with other metals. However, it’s critical to choose the right alloy for your application. Hydro Extrusion uses both 6xxx series aluminum and standard and special tempers, to satisfy the most complex size and shape requirements.
As part of the world’s largest aluminum profile company, Hydro offers some of the broadest extrusion, fabricating and finishing capabilities. When you need an aluminum extrusions manufacturer in Florida, including St. Augustine, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa or throughout the Southeastern U.S., contact Hydro Extrusion for advanced solutions and a level of quality that is unsurpassed in the industry.
